“Bringing it back to beer:” St. Benedict’s Brew Works reopens in Jasper

Briana Pace | Southern Indiana Business Report

St. Benedict’s Brew Works is back and fully operational in Jasper. The new location celebrated with a grand opening weekend July 24; debuting new menu items, beer and Jasper-themed specialty cocktails.

At 314 North Newton St., in a historic building, the new St. Benedict’s Brew Works location boasts charm, nostalgia, more visibility and more parking.

“We’re looking forward to bringing it back to the beer phase, or adult phase, with what we’re having here,” Owner Vince Luecke said.

In addition to the seven beers always on tap, the restaurant will have rotating seasonal beers— right now they are featuring their Oktoberfest. Also available now is Helles, a lighter style, traditional fall German beer.

New on the food menu are fried appetizers and entrées: boneless wings, chicken tenders and more.

“We added a fryer,” Luecke said. “Our previous location was focused more on pizza, which we continue to do, but we also have a fryer.”

The restaurant was closed as they switched locations from mid-December 2025 until the soft opening during the beginning of March 2026. During that time the restaurant served food, but no alcohol, as they waited for their liquor license. In the meantime, guests could visit the business’s original location in Ferdinand; which was open and fully operational.

The process of obtaining their liquor license took longer than expected, and they spent months waiting for it— until July 20 when the Indiana Alcohol and Tobacco Commission approved the county board’s decision from a few weeks before.

Opening weekend was a busy, fast-paced couple of days with lots of support from the community. The festivities included a ribbon cutting, WITZ 104.7 on a remote broadcast and prize drawings.

“It went really well,” Luecke said. “We’re very happy with the response to our location at Jasper.”

Luecke hopes to expand St. Benedict’s Brew Works’ menu to include more items that pay homage to Jasper and St. Benedict’s German roots; such as paninis, German-style pizzas, potato salad and more. He would also like to host nice, German Sunday dinners.

“Everything may not be available at all times, but we’re hoping to get a schedule of specials for the month ahead,” Luecke said.

Overall, Luecke wants to rebuild St. Benedict’s identity within the community after being closed so long and focus on serving quality, craft beer.
