WINSLOW – Pike County Economic Development Corporation’s Blight Elimination and Housing Program initiated work on its first property in the Town of Winslow with a demo day March 23.
The property is 913 N. First St. in Winslow and was selected for the EDC’s Blight Elimination and Housing Program.
Ashley Willis, executive director of Pike County EDC said the blight elimination program is supported by several community donors: Being for Others Health & Wellness Foundation, CenterPoint Energy Foundation, Arevon and the Pike County Community Foundation. The Pike County EDC is currently promoting the property with local developers to build new, affordable housing.
“Our committee is evaluating other blight properties throughout Pike County,” Willis said. “We have already cleaned up one blighted property in Petersburg and currently in discussions with housing developers. More details to follow.”
