PIKE COUNTY – Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane Division and Pike County Progress Partners Inc. executed a Partnership Intermediary Agreement.
Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane Division, is a shore command of the U.S. Navy. NSWC Crane is under the Naval Sea Systems Command headquartered in Washington, DC. Its mission is to deliver innovative solutions and readiness to the nation and its warfighter through application of technical capabilities.
NSWC works to advance the following mission areas:
- Electromagnetic Warfare
- Expeditionary Warfare
- Strategic Missions

As the third largest naval installation in the world, NSWC Crane’s total focus is to support the warfighter by leveraging its technical capabilities for the rapidly changing combat environment. Anchored by technical expertise, a strong work ethic and total lifecycle leadership, NSWC Crane’s personnel and preeminent facilities set the standard for excellence in acquisition, engineering, and sustainment.
Pike County Progress Partners Inc. (PCPP) is a non-profit organization that expands the support of all economic development efforts for the sister organization of Pike County Economic Development Corporation. PCPP is the owner/operator of the Elmer Buchta Technology Center, which fosters the entrepreneurial spirit and assists start-up businesses from ideation to prototype.
Ashley Willis, executive director of Pike County Economic Development, said the partnership aligns support for the organizations to lean on one another to build a brighter future.
“Pike County is proud to partner with NSWC Crane! Crane is doing fantastic work every day and is an anchor employer for our region,” said Willis. “It is a perfect partnership to work with NSWC Crane as there are technical developments that could benefit the military and likewise, companies that could expand in Pike County and need to be near NSWC Crane.”
