Kimball International hosts design event, FutureX

Southern Indiana Business Report

JASPER – Kimball International welcomed 19 architects and designers from leading firms across the country for its most recent FutureX Design Immersion Event. This three-day experience, focused on the future of healthcare environments, was designed to spark dialogue and share insights. Thought leaders from around the nation were selected to participate in this exclusive event.

FutureX is an immersive program that Kimball International pioneered in Detroit in 2023. Created for interior designers, innovators and thought leaders who are shaping what’s next, FutureX is hosted in design-inspired cities and features trend roundtables, future casting workshops, and immersive city tours.

The program offers cutting-edge design experiences and insights into the evolving future of interior design.  Participants of this year’s event were hosted in Louisville, Kentucky, as well as Jasper, the home of Kimball International. From foresight workshops and peer roundtable discussions, where participants shared insights, challenges, and best practices in healthcare design, to product innovation forums and tours of Kimball International’s headquarters and Heath & Education Experience Center, the guests created meaningful opportunities for connection, reflection, and positive change.

Guests explored emerging trends shaping healthcare, envisioned the future of the “front door” patient experience, and shared perspectives on how design can better support patients, caregivers and communities.

“FutureX is more than an event, it’s a catalyst for innovation and preparing for what’s next,” said Michelle Boolton, vice president A&D, Design Services, eTools, & Showroom Strategy. “At Kimball International, we believe that the future of design is built on collaboration, curiosity, and the courage to think differently. Through our FutureX events, we are excited to share the opportunity with the design community to anticipate shifts, reframe challenges, and co-create solutions that shape the future of care.”

Kimball International has earned three nominations in Interior Design Magazine’s 2025 Best of Year awards for the following:

  • Havei by Interwoven, launching next Monday – nominated in Health & Wellness Furniture
  • Fringe Collection by National – nominated in Contract Seating
  • ByDesign Boardroom Table featured in the Smith & Wesson Headquarters – nominated for Best of the Best

The public can cast votes online through Oct. 17 at https://bit.ly/3L8mOh7.
