Pike Co. school makes health, nutrition of students a priority

Southern Indiana Business Report

WINSLOW – Winslow Elementary School was awarded one of America’s Healthiest Schools for 2025 on behalf of the Alliance for a Healthier Generation. Winslow has made it a priority to offer healthy, nutritional options with fresh produce for fruits, vegetables and protein in their students’ diet.

“The students are more engaged and retain more knowledge when they have nutritional foods in their daily lives. When students retain more of what they learn in the classroom, the literacy and test levels reflect as a positive result,”  said Principal Aaron Meyer.

Walking through the halls at Winslow Elementary, you can feel the excitement for learning. The Winslow Eskimos have so much momentum and have been building their STEM identity for a few years, they are currently in the process of applying to be a Certified STEM Elementary School with the state of Indiana.

Winslow Elementary has made several improvements to the school from a new STEM lab, robotics team and podcast station. They also host several school pride days.

Winslow Elementary School is grade levels kindergarten through 5th grade and part of the Pike County School Corporation, located in southwest Indiana.
