HUNTINGBURG – The Dubois County Bombers, a collegiate summer league team based in Huntingburg, was named the Prospect League’s Stadium Experience of the Year for the 2025 season.
The DC Bombers practice and play their home games at the historic League Stadium, which is owned and maintained by the city of Huntingburg.
Stadium Experience of the Year is awarded to the organization that produced the highest quality experience at their ballpark during the 2025 season, according to a news release from the Prospect League.

Dubois County saw the highest attendance growth in the Prospect League during the 2025 season, with an additional 12,000 fans walking through the gates compared to 2024. Despite being the smallest market team in the 18-team league, season attendance this year surpassed more than 50,000 fans.
Promotional nights make sure fans get a fun experience while watching the game. This summer, fans were treated to promo nights such as “Helicopter Cash Drop,” “Bring Your Emotional Support Python” and “The Wiener Dog 500.”
Team owners are Justin and Ara Knepp and Barton Lewis.
“We are grateful to have such a wonderful, unique and historic stadium to play. However, there’s a lot that goes into the fan experience and bringing the stadium to life each season”, said Knepp, Bombers team president. “I think our front office and staff do an incredible job with that. We also know that we do not exist without fans, and we are fortunate to have a lot of them. This award and this recognition is for them.”
“The City of Huntingburg is proud of the high-quality experience provided by the Bombers organization. The Dubois County Bombers game experience pays tribute to the importance of baseball in our county along with respecting the history of Huntingburg League Stadium,” said Huntingburg Mayor Neil Elkins. “Bombers’ baseball has become a significant part of our culture, and bringing your family to a summer baseball game in our stadium is simply unmatched.”
League Stadium was built in 1894 and renovated in the 1990s for filming of “A League of Their Own,” which featured the Rockford Peaches women’s baseball team. Usually, when a Hollywood movie builds a set, it is dismantled after the filming. But in the case of League Stadium, nothing was removed. The unique stadium continues to draw fans from all over.
