OCRA hosting three Main Street 101 training sessions in June, July

INDIANAPOLIS — Indiana’s Office of Community and Rural Affairs will host three Indiana Main Street training sessions this summer for communities looking to gain the tools to strengthen their downtowns.

The Main Street 101 trainings will take place June and July in the north, central and south regions of the state. Attendance at a Main Street 101 is required to apply for OCRA’s Downtown Affiliate Network in the 2025-2026 application cycle.  

The training provides in-depth details on the Indiana Main Street program and the Main Street America Four-Point Approach. During the training, attendees will learn about the Indiana Main Street program as well as application information for prospective communities.  

“Our Main Street communities are vital to local economic development and sense of place,” OCRA Executive Director Fred Glynn said. “I encourage any organization committed to community-driven downtown revitalization to sign up for a Main Street 101.” 

The training dates and locations include:

  • June 5 – Main Street 101 Training from 4-5:30 p.m. ET – The REES Theatre, 100 N Michigan St, Plymouth, IN 46563
  • June 23 – Main Street 101 Training from 4-5:30 p.m. ET – Monroe County Public Library – Ellettsville Branch, 600 W Temperance St, Ellettsville, IN 47429
  • July 23 – Main Street 101 from 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. ET – Government Center South, South Auditorium- 302 W Washington St., Indianapolis, IN 46204

“It’s one thing to have incredible programs like Indiana Main Street, but if people don’t understand how to tap into them, they miss out on all the benefits these programs offer,” Lt. Gov. Beckwith said. “That’s why these training sessions are so important. They give communities the tools they need to succeed and help them make the most of opportunities through our Main Street program.”

Main Street 101 will benefit those looking to participate in the Indiana Main Street program. Additionally, it will help current Main Street board members, volunteers and city officials who want to learn more about the principles of Main Street and best practices for a comprehensive approach to downtown revitalization.
