JASPER — The glass atrium of the Thyen-Clark Cultural Center in downtown Jasper will host a new event June 17 to help ideas take flight. The Dubois County Entrepreneurs + Innovators: Unlocking True Potential gathering aims to connect guests with the service providers who can help them develop their ideas and take the next step in their journey.
“We’re very excited about it,” said Nancy Eckerle, executive director of the Jasper Chamber of Commerce and one of the event’s chief organizers. Other partners include the Dubois County Chamber of Commerce, Radius Indiana, Dubois Strong and Elevate Ventures.
The evening will begin at 5:30 p.m. with networking, and attendees will hear welcome messages and brief remarks on the importance of new local businesses from Jasper Mayor Dean Vonderheide, Huntingburg Mayor Steve Schwinghamer, and Ferdinand Town Manager Chris James at 6 p.m.
Then a local business success story will be featured. Eckerle explained Brenda Stallings of Matrix Integrations will speak on her business’ successful first 50 years as well as its efforts with succession planning.
Visiting service providers, such as the Indiana Small Business Development Center, will offer introductions, and at that point attendees will be free to visit the information stations set up around the atrium in order to learn more.
Registration for the free event can be completed at www.eventbrite.com/e/dubois-county-entrepreneurs-innovators-tickets-150917254571. However, Eckerle stressed that registration isn’t required and all guests will be welcomed that evening. She also pointed out the session isn’t limited to Dubois County. The venue is located at 100 Third Avenue.
Eckerle said the hope is the event will lead to some lasting connections as well as further networking opportunities in the future.
