LOOGOOTEE – A new urgent care clinic to open later this year in Loogootee will fill a void in health care services.
Steven Burch and Erin Burns, the owners of Harvest Health & Rehab are planning to open Martin County Urgent Care by December 2023.
The clinic will be located at 104 Wood St., which is the former location of ZipMed, an urgent care clinic that closed in July.
Nurse Practitioner Janet Baugh, who saw patients at ZipMed, will be one of the providers.
“We were determined not to lose the valuable health services provided to the local community and decided to step up to open Martin County Urgent Care,” said Burch.
Currently, Burch said the closest urgent care clinic is in Washington. Martin County residents can also travel to clinics in Huntingburg and Bedford.
“We didn’t want to see this essential service be lost and for residents to have to drive out of area for the care they needed,” he said. “And we didn’t know of anyone else willing to step up and provide the service.”
The new urgent care will offer extended hours and additional services to better serve the needs
of the community. It will be open Monday through Friday 7 am-7 pm and Saturday 7 am-5 pm. There will be on-site X-rays available in addition to illness and injury services. Physicals for DOT, school and athletics will also be provided. The clinic will accept all walk-ins as well as see patients by appointment using an online platform. The scheduling service will allow patients to input all their intake information to make the visit more efficient.
Martin County Urgent Care is currently accepting applications for triage/radiology technologist
and medical receptionists. Resumes should be submitted to [email protected]
