BEDFORD – Teenagers need summer jobs, many employers need seasonal workers, interns and even full-time employees.
The North Lawrence Career Center is hosting a job fair Feb. 15 for career center students and high school seniors.
The job fair will be in the NLCC from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Amy Redman, North Lawrence Career Center director, said the career center gets a lot of calls from businesses throughout the year looking for students that have the skills they need.
“We thought, why not bring everyone to the same place and give students the chance to meet the people who are hiring,” Redman said.
For students looking for their first job, it can be hard to know where to start. The job fair can simplify that process, and by having an in-person event, students can practice their interpersonal skills.
Prior to the job fair, the career center will host sessions on resume writing, dressing for a job fair and communication skills.
In addition to students finding out about summer work and internships, seniors who are unsure of their plans after high school can meet with multiple employers.
February is Career and Technical Education Month and Redman said the job fair is one of the activities the career center is planning.
