Carol Johnson, Southern Indiana Business Report
Whether you’re naturally caffeinated like IU football coach Tom Allen or you go straight to the bean for your java jolt, today is the day to explore your love of coffee. National Coffee Day is Sept. 29 and what better way to warm your hands on these chilly mornings than with a steamy cup from one of the many locally owned coffee shops in Southern Indiana.
By visiting a shop on Discover Southern Indiana’s Sweets and Treats Trail, you can receive rewards for exploring the region to try the best local coffee as well as shops that offer treats like ice cream and baked goods.
Just sign up for the free mobile passport, hit the road, and ask for the check-in PIN at each location, and you’ll start earning cool swag from Discover Southern Indiana. If you’re already signed up, you’ll receive email and text alerts to visit local coffee houses.
Misty Weisensteiner, COO of Discover Southern Indiana, said individuals who want to earn rewards can sign up for the Sweets and Treats Trail anytime. Locally owned businesses are also eligible to become a participating business at any time.
“The goal is to drive traffic to these locally owned businesses,” Weisensteiner said.
