Lindauer named Legislator of the Year by State Chiropractic Association

Southern Indiana Business Report

INDIANAPOLIS — The Indiana State Chiropractic Association recently named State Rep. Shane Lindauer, R-Jasper, Legislator of the Year for helping more Hoosiers access chiropractic and medical services.

Rep. Shane Lindauer

“Rep. Shane Lindauer has been a strong leader on healthcare issues and specifically the telehealth legislation this past year,” said Jessaca Turner Stults, executive director for the ISCA. “He fought to open telehealth to as many providers as possible and to allow them to serve more Hoosiers. The ISCA is thankful for his leadership and voice for chiropractic professionals at the Statehouse.”

A new law, sponsored by Lindauer, allows licensed practitioners to offer telehealth services to Hoosiers as long as they ensure the same standard of care patients expect with an in-person appointment. Using telehealth services, chiropractors can prescribe exercises, modify behaviors that are aggravating pain and offer self-management strategies.

“Telehealth opens up a variety of options for Hoosiers seeking care, including from a chiropractor, which is especially important in more rural areas of the state,” Lindauer said. “This law builds on efforts to help Hoosiers access needed medical care and services.”

Lindauer, a small-business owner, graduated from the Logan College of Chiropractic in 2004 and previously worked as a chiropractor.

The ISCA represents the chiropractic profession on state and national levels.

Lindauer (R-Jasper) represents House District 63, which includes portions of Daviess, Dubois, Pike and Martin counties.
