DAVIESS COUNTY – Daviess County has initiated a county-wide planning effort and seeks public input as part of the Daviess County Bike and Pedestrian Plan process.
The Daviess County Economic Development Corporation is developing a bike and pedestrian master plan for the county. The plan is funded in part by a grant from the Indiana State Department of Health. The intent of the Daviess County Bike and Pedestrian Plan is to build upon the community’s existing resources and develop a comprehensive bicycle and pedestrian system network for Daviess County. Specific goals include:
- Create an understanding of the true prevalence of walking and bicycling currently in the community and increase the number of bicyclists and walkers in the county.
- Increase the amount of people walking and bicycling for every day transportation purposes such as commuting to work, walking or bicycling to school and running errands.
- Based on the County goals, provide guidance and priorities for implementing programs, policies and infrastructure to support walking and bicycling with a broad range of funding and support.
