JA Benefits reclaims top spot among Best Places to Work in Indiana

INDIANAPOLIS – JA Benefits is back on top. 

The Bedford insurance and employee benefits company took the top spot in the Indiana Chamber of Commerce 2026 Best Places to Work in Indiana rankings for small companies Wednesday. 

JA Benefits was ranked No. 2 in 2025 and is no stranger to the No. 1 ranking. This year marked the company’s sixth top finish in eight years.

JA Benefits was one of several companies in the Radius Indiana region that was celebrated by the Indiana Chamber during its annual awards dinner Wednesday at the Indiana Convention Center. Area companies that were recognized included: 

  • TrueScripts Management Services, Washington, No. 12 in the medium category (75-249 employees)
  • TrueRx Health Strategists, Washington, No. 19 in the large category (250-999 employees)
  • Blue & Co., CPA firm headquartered in Carmel with an office in Bedford, No. 16 in the large category
  • Shepherd Insurance, headquarters in Carmel with an office in Bedford, No. 9 in the large category.
  • Precise Systems, engineering services firm in Odon, No. 10 in the major category (1,000 or more employees.

The Best Places to Work in Indiana is presented by KSM (Katz, Sapper & Miller).

The theme of this year’s celebration was “Walk of Fame,” with top employers enjoying the red carpet treatment, especially those coming in at No. 1:

  • JA Benefits, LLC, a Bedford-based employee benefits company – small category (between 15 and 34 U.S. employees)
  • CSpring, an IT services and consulting company in Indianapolis – small-medium category (between 35 and 74 U.S. employees)
  • E-gineering, Inc., a custom software solutions provider in Indianapolis – medium category (between 75 and 249 U.S. employees)
  • McGohan Brabender, an Indianapolis-based benefits broker – large category (between 250 and 999 U.S. employees)
  • CAPTRUST, a financial management firm with Indiana locations in Chesterton and Indianapolis – major category (1,000 or more U.S. employees)

“We’re proud to celebrate 150 Hoosier employers that consistently put their people first,” explains Indiana Chamber President and CEO Vanessa Green Sinders. “It’s inspiring to highlight the ways each organization is innovating and intentionally fostering workplace cultures that improve employees’ lives. Seeing the emphasis on meaningful amenities, open dialogue and well-rounded support is incredibly encouraging – and offers a strong model for what’s possible.”

Winning organizations represent nearly 30 cities and towns, with multiple honorees coming from Bloomington, Carmel, Evansville, Fishers, Fort Wayne, Goshen, Indianapolis, Marion, Noblesville, South Bend and Washington. In addition, several businesses have multiple Indiana locations.

The 2026 Best Places to Work in Indiana companies range in Hoosier employee count from 16 to 2,400. Honorees and rankings were determined through employer reports and a comprehensive, anonymous employee survey. The Workforce Research Group handled the selection process.

All companies that participated in the 2026 Best Places to Work program receive an in-depth evaluation identifying strengths and weaknesses according to their employees. In turn, this report can be used in developing or enhancing employee retention and recruitment programs.

In addition to the May 13 awards, winners are recognized via a special section of the Indiana Chamber’s BizVoice® magazine and through Inside INdiana Business with Gerry Dick – both of which reach statewide audiences. Additional program partners are HR Indiana SHRM, Institute for Workforce Excellence, Wellness Council of Indiana and Workforce Research Group.
