Southern Indiana Business Report
MONTGOMERY – RTC Communications recently announced it has engaged Baker Tilly (which recently combined with Moss Adams), an advisory, tax and assurance firm, to advance Artificial Intelligence fluency across its organization and the communities it serves.
RTC will leverage Baker Tilly’s specialization in generative AI and strategy development to bring innovative training and readiness programs to employees. “Collaborative AI,” generative AI solutioning, will help Southern Indiana prepare for the opportunities of an AI-driven future while ensuring responsible and practical use of emerging technologies. As new platforms and rapid changes come from the use of AI, changing the internal working landscape for all businesses, it is important that organizations provide education, structure and boundaries for the use of AI programs.
Collaborative AI helps employees access and apply company knowledge more effectively, including unlocking the value of unstructured data – such as emails, transcripts, and documents – transforming the data into actionable insights. By capturing institutional knowledge that might otherwise be lost, it allows organizations to reduce onboarding and training costs while preserving organizational expertise.
RTC Communications showcased its leadership in artificial intelligence at the recent Indiana Regional Broadband Association Leadership Forum, highlighting how the cooperative is integrating AI across marketing, operations, HR, and finance to enhance service, improve efficiency, and deliver greater value to members. From AI-powered campaign planning and customer engagement tools to predictive maintenance in the field and advanced financial modeling, RTC is setting the standard for rural telecom innovation. RTC leadership emphasized its commitment to responsible, community-focused adoption of AI—ensuring technology strengthens, rather than replaces, the personal service that defines its Seek. Service. Smile. brand.
“This engagement represents another important step forward for our cooperative and for the region,” said Kirk Lehman, CEO of RTC Communications. “Since 1949, RTC has been a leader within our community. By working with a firm with deep expertise in AI fluency such as Baker Tilly, we are ensuring that our employees, customers, and communities have the tools and knowledge to thrive in an AI-enabled world. Just like our network and services, it’s about preparing our communities not just to keep pace, but to lead.”
“We’re proud to work with RTC Communications on an effort that blends technology implementation with AI fluency,” said K.C. Fike, director of Data & Analytics. “By leveraging Collaborative AI, RTC is showing how rural telecom providers can drive innovation, empowering employees with the data and tools they need to work smarter and more efficiently. We’re excited to help RTC set a new standard for integrating AI into everyday business workflows.”
