Culver’s in Bedford to open this summer on John Williams Boulevard

BEDFORD – If the construction schedule stays on track, the Bedford community could be enjoying ButterBurgers and frozen custard by June.

Construction has begun on the new Culver’s on John Williams Boulevard. The restaurant that got its start in Wisconsin is a fast-casual eatery known for its commitment to quality and freshness.

Scott Laskowski is the franchise owner and is developing the project with Meyer Foods Management.

 “Bedford is a great Midwest town located almost directly in the middle of my family’s other Southern Indiana locations,” Laskowski said. “This made Bedford an easy pick for our next location and it being only 20 miles south of our Bloomington restaurant made it very desirable. We had many guests over the years stop into our Bloomington location and ask when one would be built in Bedford, so we knew the guests would love a Culver’s down here.”

The franchise also operates a Culver’s location in Jasper, which opened in 2022, and Seymour.

Meyer Foods Management Company is owned by Jeff Meyer and Neil Miller.  

According to a press release, both owners have spent years working in the food industry. Meyer got his start working a bun delivery route for McDonald’s before owning and operating 34 Culver’s restaurants. Miller’s rise within Culver’s, from general manager to part-owner of 30 Culver’s restaurants, is an example of the company’s dedication to fostering talent and leadership from within.

Culver’s Bedford location is aiming for a team of 80 employees.

Culver’s regular hours of operation will be 10 am to 10 pm Sunday through Thursday, and 10 am to 11 pm on Fridays and Saturdays, with select holiday hours, and from 10 am to 11 pm during the summer season.

The first Culver’s opened in 1984 in Sauk City, Wisconsin. Its first successful franchise opened in 1990. From 2020 to 2023 the restaurant chain opened 214 new franchises. In 2024, Culver’s announced plans to expand to 51 new locations. Currently, Culver’s has 1,000 locations in 26 states.

In addition to their famous ButterBurger, made from 100% fresh, never-frozen beef, Culver’s is known for its frozen custard, made fresh in small batches throughout the day. Other menu items include chicken sandwiches, fresh garden salads, Crinkle Cut Fries and Wisconsin Cheese Curds.
