BLOOMINGTON – IU Health Bloomington and IU Health Paoli Hospital have been named by U.S. News & World Report to its 2025 Best Hospitals list as High Performing hospitals for maternity care.
“It’s truly remarkable to witness the dedication of our teams who work tirelessly each day to ensure our patients are safe, supported, comfortable and well cared for throughout their birthing experience,” said Denzil Ross, IU Health South Central Region president. “Their commitment to this work and each other makes all the difference and this recognition underscores that effort.”
Only 414 hospitals of the 817 hospitals that submitted maternity data to U.S. News this year were recognized with the High Performing rating in this category, which is the highest distinction a hospital can earn for U.S. News’ Best Hospitals Procedures & Conditions ratings.
In addition, hospitals awarded a “Best” designation excelled at factors such as clinical outcomes, level of nursing care and patient experience.
“When you go into the medical field, you’re dedicating yourself to helping others, and these teams certainly do that,” said Cindy Herrington, DNP, FNP, RN, NE-BC, OCN, IU Health South Central Region chief nursing officer. “I couldn’t be prouder of this group of clinicians and support teams for the excellent care they provide, and I’m so happy to see them recognized like this.”
“Our teams combine medical expertise with compassionate care every day, and this recognition showcases these efforts to provide a wonderful experience for every patient who comes to us for care in their rural community,” said Michele Ridge, DNP, RN NE-BC, IU Health Bedford Hospital and IU Health Paoli Hospital chief nursing officer.
Paoli was listed as a Maternity Care Access hospital by U.S. News, which recognizes those facilities that provide care to areas that would otherwise be maternity deserts.
