Crawford Co. Economic Development to host training seminars on job search and professional development skills

Southern Indiana Business Report

CRAWFORD COUNTY – The Crawford County Economic Development Corporation is hosting two professional development training seminars as part of Regional Opportunity Initiatives.

The first session, on Saturday, Oct. 26, will offer training on job search sites, including LinkedIn and Indeed. Attendees will determine which site is the right fit for them, learn how to create a profile, and develop skills to effectively use the site. The event will begin at 8 a.m. and include three hours of training, as well as a Q&A session and one-on-one guidance.

The second session will take place on Saturday, Nov. 9, and will focus on professional development skills such as building a resume, writing a cover letter, and creating a professional email address. This session will also begin at 8 a.m. and feature a time of Q&A and one-on-one assistance. Both workshops will be taught by Chris Isaacs of Ivy Tech and will include a light breakfast.

The training seminars are part of the Digital Literacy portion of the Public Access WiFi Grant received from Regional Opportunity Initiatives.

“These seminars are a continuation of our efforts to increase digital literacy and economic opportunity in our county,” said Executive Director Jesse Belcher. “We are excited to bring in educational resources that benefit our community members directly, allowing Crawford County residents to increase their marketability in the workplace and express confidence in their skills.” Attendees are asked to pre-register by emailing [email protected] or calling (812) 739-4479, though pre-registration is not required to attend. Both seminars will take place at the Crawford County Welcome Center, 5935 S. State Road 66, English, IN 47118.
