Tickets on sale for Bedford Chamber annual dinner

BEDFORD – A Bedford native and retired United States Army colonel will be the keynote speaker at the Bedford Chamber’s 108th annual dinner Aug. 15 at the Lawrence County Fairgrounds Expo Hall.

Andrew “Coby” Short will deliver “A Perspective on Service, Teamwork, and Partnerships.”

Short is a graduate of the US Military Academy at West Point and served 24 years in the US Army.

As an officer in the US Army, he served in a variety of roles. His first duty station was Fort Campbell, Kentucky, where he served as a platoon leader, company executive officer and assistant operations officer in 326th Engineer Battalion, 101st Airborne Division. His career included deployments to Kosovo, Afghanistan and Eastern Europe.

 His last job in the Army was commanding the Pittsburgh District in the US Army Corps of Engineers where he engaged with senior leaders across federal, state and local governments and led all construction efforts on the southern Border Wall in 2020.

His military awards include the Legion of Merit and the Bronze Star Medal, among other awards and decorations. 

For the past two and a half years, he has worked at Eli Lilly & Company, where he is the senior director of employee engagement.

Social hour begins at 5:30 p.m. followed by dinner and the keynote address. The Chamber will present several community and business awards.

Sponsorships are still available at the $1,000 and $600 levels. Individual tickets are $30 for Chamber members and $40 for non-members.
