FRENCH LICK – Indiana’s sports betting scene experienced significant growth in February with adjusted sports betting revenue reaching $37.9 million, according to a recent report from the Indiana Gaming Commission.
This rise in revenue is a 37.2% increase compared to February 2023, and points to the continued expansion and success of the sports betting industry in Indiana.
The total amount of money statewide wagered on sports, called the handle, was $408.7 million in February.
The French Lick Resort also saw a surge in sports betting.
The February handle was $30.7 million, up from $12.1 million in 2023. The sports wagering taxable adjusted gross revenue was $3.5 million in February, a marked increase from the year before when the sports wagering AGR was $513,678.
The year-over-year sports wagering tax paid by the Resort also reflected the increased activity.
The sports wagering tax in February was $329,801, an increase of $281,002 from the same month the previous year when the sports wagering tax paid was $48,799.
The Resort’s total gaming tax paid for the month, which includes wagering and sports wagering, was $1.5 million.
Total tax collected on sports betting in Indiana totaled $3.6 million in February, up from $2.6 million collected in February 2023.
Statewide, the sport seeing the most activity was basketball; hoops wagering totaled $117.6 million.
