These establishments not only contribute significantly to the local economy but also offer unique experiences for visitors.

“We are excited to convey all that Crawford County has to offer,” said Executive Director Jesse Belcher. “Being located in the heart of the Hoosier uplands, we have an abundance of outdoor life and beauty to enjoy. It’s our pleasure to showcase a handful of businesses that call Crawford County home.”

Cave Country Canoes in Milltown, the Overlook in Leavenworth and Sycamore Springs in English are some of the businesses that are tied to the county’s natural assets.

“We have other businesses, like the Lucas Oil Golf Course, Happy Hive, and the Patoka Lake Winery, that offer their own set of activities and enjoyment, while also being nestled within all that natural beauty,” Belcher said.

Marengo Cave

Marengo Cave is Indiana’s most visited natural attraction and a U.S. National Landmark. It offers visitors a chance to explore the hidden wonders of underground caves. From guided tours through spectacular caverns to thrilling adventures like cave crawling and gemstone mining, Marengo Cave provides an enriching experience for families and adventure enthusiasts alike.

Cave Country Canoes

Cave Country Canoes offers canoe and kayak adventures along the scenic Blue River. The family-owned business has been operating since 1983 and continues to grow each year. Cave Country Canoes offers multiple river trips including ½ day, full day and two-day excursions from April through October. After a long day on the river, visitors also have the option to stay overnight at the campgrounds where they can enjoy the new ice cream and coffee shop.

The Overlook Restaurant

The Overlook Restaurant, on the banks of the Ohio River, with breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside, serves as a culinary gem in Crawford County. Since 1937 it has been known for its delectable dishes and warm hospitality. The Overlook is a must-visit destination for both locals and tourists, offering a dining experience that perfectly complements the region’s natural beauty.

Sycamore Springs

Sycamore Springs, a serene and rejuvenating retreat, invites visitors to unwind in the midst of nature. Located in the Hoosier National Forest lie cabins, hiking trails, and fishing ponds. It’s an idyllic destination for those seeking a scenic hike or cozy weekend getaway amidst Crawford County’s natural splendor.

Lucas Oil Golf Course

Lucas Oil Golf Course stands as a testament to the region’s passion for the sport. This pristine golf course, designed by professional golfer and entrepreneur Lucas Oil founder Forrest Lucas, offers golfers an exceptional place to enjoy their favorite game. Being the one and only course in the county, the championship golf course features an 18-hole layout with two distinctly different front and back nine.

Hemlock Cliffs is located in the Hoosier National Forest near English. A one-mile hiking trail leads you down into the canyon under a lush canopy of large trees and past high seasonal waterfalls.
