JASPER – Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper was recently named one of the top 20 rural and community hospitals in the country.
The National Rural Health Association (NRHA) announced the 20 highest-ranked prospective payment system hospitals in the country based on an evaluation by the Chartis Center for Rural Health.
The hospitals are identified using the Chartis Rural Hospital Performance INDEX, the most comprehensive and objective assessment of rural PPS hospital performance.
These hospitals will be recognized May 18 during NRHA’s Rural Hospital Innovation Summit in San Diego, Calif.
The determining factors for the top 20 rural and community hospitals are based on eight indices: inpatient market share, outpatient market share, quality, outcomes, patient perspective, cost, charge, and finance.
“Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center is proud of the efforts of its physicians and caregivers who have contributed to our hospital achieving this designation,” said E. Kyle Bennett, president and CEO of Memorial Hospital. “Our recognition as a top health care provider means our community can count on us to deliver the services they need now and in the future.”
Memorial Hospital has more than 30 specialties with about 250 physicians and advanced practice providers in 33 health care offices across seven counties. Memorial Hospital employs more than 1,800 people and provides medical care for more than 6,000 inpatients, 250,000 outpatients, and 26,000 emergency department visits annually. More than 700 babies are born at Memorial Hospital each year.
