French Lick Resort Casino gaming revenue tops $5.8 million in January

FRENCH LICK – The French Lick Resort Casino reported taxable adjusted gross revenue (AGR) of $5,815,615 for the first month of 2023, according to the Indiana Gaming Commission Summary of Wagering and Supplemental Tax for January.

The figure is down $942,912 from December or about 14% and shows an increase of $376,944 from January 2022 or about 7%. 

The month of December has traditionally been a strong month at the casino because of special events during Christmas such as the 50 Days of Lights and New Year’s Eve, which draws big crowds to the resort and casino.

Turning to data from the state’s 13 casinos, the combined AGR was $188,360,480 in January. That figure is down slightly from the previous month, when the total AGR for all gaming sites was  $192,757,015.

Taking a look at taxes paid, French Lick casino paid $465,249 in wagering taxes and $56,580 in sports wagering taxes for a total tax of $521,829 for the month. That’s an increase from a year ago, when the casino paid $413,800 in total gaming taxes for January 2022.

The summary of sports wagering reported a handle (wagers) of $13,576,148 at French Lick. Statewide, wagers on basketball totaled $155,578,660 in January and $90,619,056 on football.
