FRENCH LICK — French Lick Casino had a taxable adjusted gross revenue (AGR) of $6,795,275 for April, which is down from the previous month by $55,197, or approximately 1%, but up $172,642, or 3%, from April 2021.

Statewide numbers in the Indiana Gaming Commission tax summary reflected much of the same. The 13 properties around the state reported a combined AGR of $215,297,791, which is down $3,884,974, or 2%, from March but up $12,416,728, or 6%, from April 2021.

However, while French Lick’s performance continues to lag pre-COVID numbers, the statewide industry has seen remarkable growth over the same period. French Lick’s April figure is down $1,027,275, or 13%, from April 2019. Meanwhile, the state sector as a whole is up $40,237,604, or 23%, for the same period.

French Lick’s running AGR total for the first 10 months of the current fiscal year now stands at $62,078,817. That figure is up $11,026,233, or 22%, from a year earlier but down $11,701,309, or 16%, from the same time three years ago.

Statewide, the year-to-date combined AGR total is now at $1,960,627,570. The total is up $384,157,973, or 24%, from one year earlier and up $254,362,799, or 15%, from three years ago.

Turning to taxes, the local casino paid $815,433 in wagering tax and $51,738 in sports wagering tax for April, bringing its total gaming tax burden to $867,171 for the month and $4,056,055 for the year, thus far.

The combined statewide total for April breaks down to $66,782,687 for wagering tax, $2,722,456 for sports wagering tax, and $4,701,305 for the supplemental wagering tax collected at the 10 properties that had been paying the admission tax before it was abolished by the state, bringing the statewide gaming tax total to $74,206,448 for April and $552,862,059 for the fiscal year.
