WEST LAFAYETTE — Purdue Extension’s Farmland for the Next Generation program is designed to help attendees achieve their land acquisition goals.
The five-session virtual interactive series will address three paths to land access: leasing, purchasing and receiving land through inheritance or gift. It uses a skills-based approach that focuses on what people need to be able to do, not just on what they need to know. The series will be offered 6:30-8:30 p.m. EST Monday evenings, Feb. 21 through March 21.
Purdue Extension Educators and industry professionals will present on a variety of topics including:
- Financial readiness
- Paths to land access
- Finding farmland
- Assessing farmland suitability
The registration fee is $50. Individuals can sign up online by Feb. 14. For more information, or if you need a reasonable accommodation to participate in this program, contact Kathryn Weiss at 219-285-8620 ext. 2800 or [email protected].
The curriculum was created by the American Farmland Trust, supported by a four-year Educational Enhancement grant from the USDA Beginning Farmer and Rancher Development program. The program is sponsored by Farm Credit Mid-America.
