IEDC names new VP for external engagement

INDIANAPOLIS — Laurel Judkins has been named executive vice president of external engagement for the Indiana Economic Development Corporation. Indiana Secreta Indiana Secretary of Commerce Brad Chambers made the announcement Oct. 14. Judkins most recently served as director of global communications operations for Columbus-based Cummins Inc., where she led teams dedicated to the company’s brand, digital marketing and executive communications.

“Laurel is a transformative leader with a well-established track record of achievement who will round out the strengths of the IEDC’s leadership team,” said Chambers. “Her experience, business acumen and leadership will be invaluable as we continue raising Indiana’s profile as a premier destination for business and top talent.”

In her role, Judkins will report to Chambers and will oversee marketing, brand, communications and a reimagined data and analytics division.

Judkins joins the IEDC with nearly 20 years of combined public and private sector experience in law, marketing and communications. She began her career as assistant corporation counsel for the city of Indianapolis and went on to serve as director of elections for the Marion County Election Board. Prior to joining Cummins, Judkins served as chief counsel to the late Marion County Prosecutor Terry Curry during his first term in office.

Judkins has served on the boards of multiple civic and nonprofit organizations including Employ Indy’s Workforce Investment Board and Growing Places Indy. She has been recognized as a Forty Under 40 leader by the Indianapolis Business Journal.

Judkins is a graduate of the Indiana University Maurer School of Law. She resides in Indianapolis with her children, Metta and William.
