FRENCH LICK — French Lick Casino had taxable adjusted gross revenue (AGR) of $6,056,370 for September, according to the Indiana Gaming Commission Summary of Wagering and Supplemental Tax, released Oct. 12. The figure is up $55,691, or 1%, from August, and is up a hefty $18,858,346, or 25%, from September 2020. However, the figure is still down from pre-COVID September 2019 by $890,829, or 13%.
The running AGR total for the first quarter of the current fiscal year now stands at $18,858,346. That figure is up $4,180,583, or 28%, from where it was one year ago. Again, though, the total is down from two years ago by $3,474,763, or 16%.
Taking a look at the statewide figures, the 13 Hoosier casinos reported a combined AGR of $189,268,970 for September. That figure is down $1,118,204, or 1%, from August. It is up $36,884,402, or 24%, from September 2020. However, unlike French Lick, the statewide total is actually up from pre-COVID September 2019 by $27,940,788, or 17%. The state’s running AGR total for the first quarter is now at $591,820,104. That figure is up from a year ago by $123,123,394, or 26%. Again, unlike French Lick, the statewide running total is also up from two years ago by $86,888,369, or 17%.
Turning to taxes, French Lick Casino paid $90,846 in wagering tax and $62,806 in sports wagering tax for September, bringing the monthly tax total to $153,652 and the amount paid for the first quarter of the fiscal year to $452,854. For September, Indiana’s 13 casinos paid a total of $39,567,155 in wagering tax, $3,218,432 in sports wagering tax and $4,167,233 in the supplemental wagering tax that took the place of the old admission tax that had been collected at 10 properties, bringing the total tax to $46,952,820 for the month and to $117,948,074 for the quarter.
