Casino kicks off fiscal year on high note

FRENCH LICK — Providing more evidence of a return to normalcy in gaming, French Lick Casino just saw its second-best revenue month since pre-COVID December 2019. According to the Indiana Gaming Commission Summary of Wagering and Supplemental Tax for July, released Aug. 12, the facility reported taxable adjusted gross revenue of  $6,801,297. That figure is up $344,080, or 5%, from June and up $1,752,424, or 35%, from July 2020.

Statewide, the story was very similar. The 13 properties around Indiana reported a combined AGR total of $212,163,960 for July, which is up $13,428,826, or 7%, from June and up $51,178,188, or 32%, from July 2020.

Turning to taxes, French Lick Casino paid $102,019 in wagering tax and $65,426 in sports wagering tax, making the July tax total $167,445 for July.

Statewide, amounts came out to $27,107,937 for wagering tax, $1,658,051 for sports wagering tax, and $4,656,092 for the supplemental wagering tax collected everywhere but at French Lick and the two racinos, bringing the July combined total tax to $33,422,080.
