Counties, communities benefiting from INDOT grant money

INDIANAPOLIS — The Indiana Department of Transportation announced the award of $100,198,294.54 in Community Crossing Grant money April 30 to 218 Hoosier counties and communities for road and bridge projects.

Recipients around the region include:

Crawford County

  • Crawford County, $160,717.50.
  • Alton, $74,805
  • Milltown, $74,742.15

Daviess County

  • Daviess County, $100,846.50

Dubois County

  • Dubois County, $628,114.89
  • Ferdinand, $281,232.43

Greene County

  • Jasonville, $213,769.40

Lawrence County

  • Mitchell, $87,705

Martin County

  • Martin County, $997,626.75

Orange County

  • Orange County, $999,057.90
  • Orleans, $113,468.10

Washington County

  • Washington County, $1 million.

Through the program, the Indiana Department of Transportation matches up to $1 million annually when localities invest in road and bridge repairs. Counties with populations fewer than 50,000 and cities and towns with populations fewer than 10,000 receive a 75%/25% match, while counties with populations of greater than 50,000 and cities and towns with populations of greater than 10,000 receive a 50%/50% match.

This program was established in 2016 and expanded a year later. The Indiana Department of Transportation oversees and distributes these grants twice each year.

Since it was put into place, the program has awarded more than $930 million in state matching funds for local construction projects.
